A living tradition

Jewish learning is about learning to ask questions.

Yochai brings the Jewish canon into one thoughtful place and accompanies you as you learn, as your chavruta.

The challenge

The tradition was vast.
The way in was hard to find.

Jewish texts form a layered conversation across languages, centuries, genres, and communities. For a learner without an experienced partner, even knowing where to begin can feel like a prerequisite for beginning.

We set out to build a place with the rigor of a beit midrash, the warmth of a trusted study partner, and enough structure to turn curiosity into sustained learning.

How we built it

Three disciplines.
One learning system.

01

Ontology

We gave texts, thinkers, concepts, genres, and historical strata a shared structure so learners can move through the tradition without flattening it.

02

Pedagogy

We designed Yochai as a chavruta rather than an answer machine, preserving productive difficulty and helping learners form their own readings.

03

Aesthetics

We created a quiet, luminous place drawn from parchment and deep water, where entry feels like an orientation into study rather than a login.

Our work
01

Product Strategy

Defined the product vision, audience, and chavruta learning model.

02

Knowledge Architecture

Structured texts, concepts, traditions, and pathways across the canon.

03

Brand Expression

Built an identity from tekhelet, sacred geometry, and the carob tree.

04

UX & UI Design

Made serious study feel welcoming, calm, and text-centered.

05

Engineering

Built the reader, learning companion, memory, and connected study tools.

What emerged

A study partner designed to keep the conversation alive.

Yochai brings close reading, open questions, calendar rhythms, source sheets, and guided study into one coherent learning environment.

Yochai identity and product design

The learner remains the interpreter.

Yochai can help someone enter through a passage, a holiday, a difficult question, or a text they have always wanted to study. It offers context and companionship without replacing teachers, community, or judgment.

Over time, each encounter becomes part of a larger practice: one question opening into another, and one text joining a conversation that has never stopped unfolding.

“I was blown away using the classical lens to explore the parasha. It had me engaging at a level of detail I’d never reached before, and I felt better prepared for Shabbos than ever before. Fun, engaging, stimulating.”“I was blown away using the classical lens to explore the parasha. Let's build your way in.

Yochai began with a tradition worth entering and a question about how technology could deepen study without diminishing it. If your community should be living with a body of knowledge rather than searching through it, we should talk.
